12-day festival
One of the ancient temples in the coastal Karnataka and in Udupi district - Guru Narasimha Temple of Saligrama will witness a 12-day long religious festival -

  1. Ashtabandha Brahma Kalsha Utsva and 
  2. Brahma Rathostsava. 
The festival will start on Saturday and will conclude on April 30. Saligrama and Kota are neighbouring places in Udupi district in the coastal area where Koota Brahmin or later known as Kota Brahmins are originated and now spread all over South India, especially a large concentration in Bangalore. The specality of Koota Brahmin community is that they do not follow any

  1. guru, 
  2. swami or 
  3. math. 
They are neither known as

  1. Shivaites or 
  2. Vaishnavites, but they consider Guru Narsamiha, the incarnation of Vishnu - Narasimha as their guru and God. 
This temple which has been managed by the Koota Brahmin community is thus celebrating this religious festival which starts from Saturday. Elaborate arrangements are being made by the temple management.
